I’m Tony Hawke, reformer Pilates teacher at Surf Fit Pilates in Newquay, Cornwall. I’m an ex military serviceman, former RAF surf champion, and surf instructor. I started Surf Fit to keep people doing the things that they love for as long as possible as they get older. I’ve found that regular Pilates sessions actively helps to reduce the chances of muscular injury.  Less injuries equals more time doing the things you enjoy!

I began practicing Pilates back in 2006. Initially because I wanted a six pack, but It wasn’t long before I began to notice the effects on my surf fitness and longevity in the water.  I became fascinated by the scientific approach of Pilates to personal fitness and its effects on anatomy.  I stuck with Pilates through the years, practicing several days a week, eventually deciding to become a teacher.

I trained with STOTT Pilates, world renowned for the quality of its teacher training programme.  I certified as a Pilates teacher in 2018.  I started teaching Pilates to military people alongside my job as an RAF photographer for my last few years of service. I then went on to train as a Reformer Pilates teacher in 2019.  I finally left the RAF in 2021, moving back to Newquay, Cornwall to focus on teaching Pilates, surf mobility, and surfing.
